Fokospilies (Seal caves)

After Merichas cove and before Aspros and Kokkinos Molos, we can see the impressive seal caves. The seal monachus monachus, is one of the hundreds of different kinds of life that we can see on the island. The rich biodiversity of the island, to a great extent, is due to the geomorphological land of Iraklia (with the many, remote caves that are ideal for nests) and the whole area has been incorporated into the Natura 2000 network as a specially protected area (SPA).
