Iraklia, together with Donousa, has the best signposted network of community footpaths in the Lesser Cyclades. Footpath two (2) starts below the water tank of Panagia village and ends at 1,600m after 30 minutes easy walking, above the west end of Merichas cove. The end of footpath two (2) rewards us with its wonderful view towards Merichas cove with its sheer cliffs, its rocks and caves above us, refuges for hunting birds and of course the blue expanse of the Aegean. Ammoudi, a very lovely, sandy beach stands out from our position up high at 280m, to our NE in Merichas cove, accessible only by sea. A little further south of this beach (and not visible from this point) are the very beautiful seal caves. From the other side and to the south of our position, at Aspros Molos, we can see a second, smaller and even more remote beach.
