There are daily cruises from the port of Agios Georgios to the most beautiful beaches of Iraklia at Alimnia and Karvounolakkos, on the tour boat Anemos.
On a trip of less than an hour, we can admire the sea caves at Agriomelissa and the steep, sheer rocks of Mericha (with a height of more than 100 meters) and of Fokospilies (seal caves). At Alimnia, if the weather permits, we can stop above the sunken German hydroplane which is visible even from above the surface of the sea. Both beaches have improvised piers for easy embarkation and disembarkation of passengers.
In good weather, the vessel returns to port after circling the entire island; otherwise, it goes back the way it came. The cost is 15 euros per person. Tickets are available one day in advance at the supermarket in Agios Georgios. There are also daily trips to Schoinoussa and Koufonisia.
