In Alika in 1958, archaeological excavations in the area of the now deserted settlement of Agios Andreas brought to light remains of a large 6th-7th century AD basilica. The walled columns at the entrance of the nearly-collapsing church of Saint Andrew (Agios Andreas) are noteworthy.
