Lemonia belonged to the Bardounochoria of the Tourkobardounochoria (those that were conquered by the Turks), villages north of Mani or in northern Mani which were also inhabited by Greeks. Today, there are remains of two Turkish fortified towers in the village, and a third is on a hill just outside the settlement.
