Shortly after we enter Astras, coming from Kalyvia, we see a dirt road heading off to the right that leads to the hermitage of Saint John (Eh Giannis or Agios Ioannis, the hermitage of Nousa). Carved into the rock there, we find the little church of Saint John, which dates back to the 10th century. It celebrates with a festival every August 29.
