At 1,445 meters altitude, the highest peak of Mount Aphrodisio is called Mavri Vrysi (which means 'Black Fountain'). Forming a natural border between Kalavryta and Gortynia, it was named after a source of crystal clear water just below the mountaintop. The fountain at the source was built in 1968.
