Saint Vasileios

The magnificent church of Saint (Agios) Vasileios was built in the square in Korakovouni using stones from the surrounding mountains. The old church was demolished in 1957, and then the new one was built. In the churchyard, there is a bust of Georgios Leventis, a member of the Society of Friends (Filiki Eteria), an early 19th century secret society that aimed to set up an independent Greek state.
