Nikitas Stamatelopoulos, or Nikitaras or the 'Turk Slayer' or Turkolekas, originated from the village of Turkoleka and was the nephew of Th. Kolokotronis. Nicknamed the 'Turk Slayer' when with his 200 men, he fended off an army of 6,000 Turks.
