We can see the Monastery of Kandyla amongst the rocks of the nearby Kandyla hill. Its altar screen is decorated with icons of the 18th and 19thCs. In March 1827 the Abbot Kallinikos with 200 men from Kandyla held the monastery impregnable from the Turks.
