Near the village of Elliniko, 1 kilometer down the poor dirt road from Oreini Meligou to Astros, at the location known as 'Teichio' and on the hill, there are remains of an ancient settlement which was probably the town of Thyrea. Some sections of stone walls from the 5th, 4th, and 3rd centuries BC have survived.
