Location
From the Monastery of Saint Nicholas (about 4 kilometers from the town of Hydra), we head toward the road leading to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity. About 100 meters from where we started, where the road turns right, we will go left, toward the only house in this direction. (In the beginning we will also pass a threshing floor on our left.)
Passing by this house, we will begin to descend to the south. After a few meters we will see the red markings of the trail, which after 700 meters takes us to the beautiful deserted beach of Limioniza.
As we descend from the heights, about half way down, the view over the bay is breathtaking. We look forward to descending as fast as possible to swim in the crystal clear waters.
We will unfortunately pay a price for this unique pleasure on our way back, when we will have to walk 700 meters while climbing 250 meters in altitude to get to the house where we began our descent.
If we continue on the road to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity (about 1,300 meters) and arrive there, we will have three options:
- To head west toward the town of Hydra (about 2,500 meters).
- To ascend to the south toward the women’s monastery or Convent of Saint Matrona (about 1,000 meters).
- Taking a bad path shortly after the Holy Trinity, to descend north toward Mandraki (about 1,700 meters) and run into the road that comes from the town of Hydra.
