The Ecclesiastic & Byzantine Museum of Hydra is housed at the Cathedral, or “Monastery,” as it is called. It was built in the mid 17th century.

In the museum visitors can admire vestments, relics, tributes, and icons, mainly from the 18th century. Among them the icon of the Virgin Mary the “Rose Amaranto” (ca. 1774) stands out.

There are relics from private individuals such as portable icons of the Archimandrite Athanasios Koulouras, sacerdotal personal items of the late Bishop of Hydra, the eminent Prokopios of Karamanos, personal belongings of the late Hydriot Hierarch, Bishop Paronaxias the eminent Epifanios, and an elaborate Cross for the benediction.
