Oia

The Municipal Community of Oia is located in the northern part of Santorini, 11 kilometers northwest of the capital, Fira, at an altitude of 120 meters. According to the 2011 census, its population is 665. It is the capital of the Municipal Unit of Oia. Oia is considered the most popular destination on the island, with the most intense tourist traffic. It stands out for the cave houses dug into the volcanic walls of the island which create unique views for visitors. Oia is widely regarded as offering the best views of the sunset. From Ammoudi you can visit the secluded islet of Thirasia and the volcano.
