Astros is a community that consists of Varvogli, Agios Stefanos, Chantakia, Agios Ioannis (a historic village, headquarters of the revolutionary government in 1822), and Astros. With 3000 residents, the town of Astros is the seat of North Kynouria. In April 1823, the second national assembly convened there.
