Plataniotissa

Community of the Municipal District of Kalavryta made up of the small villages of Digela and Spartino and Plataniotissa. A lovely village that is crossed by a Keritinis tributary. It is well known for the little Church of the Virgin Mary of Plataniotissa that has been formed in the hollow of a huge plane tree that was created by the fusion of three trees. The plane tree has a height of about 25 metres, the perimeter of its base is 16 metres and can take up to 20 people. An icon of the Infant Holding Virgin Mary has been imprinted on its trunk 3 metres from the ground.
