Iraklia

The Municipal Unit of Iraklia (or Irakleia) is one of three municipal units in the Municipality of Iraklia, which is part of the prefecture of Serres. The Municipal Unit of Iraklia includes most of the villages east of Lake Kerkini, up to the main road that runs from Serres to Promachonas--that is, most villages in the northern part of the plain of Serres. The seat of the municipal unit is the town of Iraklia (or Irakleia). The villages of Lithotopos and Chrysochorafa (or Hrisohorafa), which are located beside Lake Kerkini, provide facilities for tourists.
