Location
One of the most historically significant and beautiful islands in Greece, closely connected with the Revolution of 1821. The whole island is a historical preservation site, with many impressive mansions, where vehicles have been banned. Ideal for lovers of hiking and nature.
The hiking can be combined with visits to eight monasteries (some for men, others women’s convents): Nativity of the Virgin Mary, [Saint Nicholas][TID:22649], Holy Trinity, Saint Matrona, Saint Fotini & Elisavet, the Prophet Elias, Saint Efpraxia and Assumption of the Virgin, in the city.
Hydra is ideal for many different holiday preferences. Due to its relatively small size, you can combine many things in a short time. If you also have your own watercraft, you will not encounter any obstacle to exploring every last detail of this beautiful island.
We recommend sailing around Hydra, a trip of approximately 46 kilometers or 25 nautical miles, while a hiking route that runs along the length of the island from the Lighthouse in the east to the western tip of Hydra and the little church of Saint George is approximately 25 kilometers.
