Kalavryta

Municipality of Achaea (the largest in terms of area in the Regional District) with its seat Kalavryta, the historic small town of Achaea, built on the Chelmos’ slopes, in the position of ancient Cynaetha. A place of sacrifice of Greek martyrs during the occupation of German forces. Today, it enjoys a considerable touristic development centred on Chelmos’ ski resort. The Municipality is made up of the Muncipal Departments: Aroania, Paion, Kleitoria and Kalavryta.
